Why not travel to Zambia with
our "Travel With a Cause"* tours and make an humanitarian impact on the
nation of Zambia.
We will be delighted to explain how you can make an impact on Zambia as you
holiday amongst Zambia's generous and warm-hearted people. We are currently
sponsoring two schools in Zambia (see photographs below). One of these is in
Livingstone and the other in the capital (Lusaka). The school in
Livingstone has approximately 1000 children, including 25 blind children
(with NO Braille texts) and some 250 orphans (Africa is ravaged by HIV/AIDS
and this has resulted in millions of orphaned children).
By booking your travel through us you'll make an impact on Zambia as you holiday amongst Zambia's generous and warm-hearted people.
Testimonial
from recent Zambian Tourist Mrs. Ruth Deans.
We currently sponsor two schools in Zambia (see photographs below). One of
these is in Livingstone and the other in the Zambian capital (Lusaka). The
school in Livingstone has approximately 1000 children, including 25 blind
children and some 250 orphans (Africa is ravaged by
HIV/AIDS and this has resulted in millions of orphaned children). We also
co-sponsor a significant Vocational Training Centre (VTC) program in Zambia's
second-largest city (Ndola), alongside Mobile Mission Maintenance
International (MMMI). Donations to the VTC program are tax-deductible (for
Australian citizens) but even if you don't want to donate, the profits
gained by booking any travel through us go by law, to developing countries
like Zambia. Our directors are all Australians and we understand that some
Australians also live in poverty. The difference between Zambian poverty and
Australian poverty is that in Zambia there is no Social Security "net". Hence an
unemployed Zambian might not eat a single meal in any one day.
Sometimes the appalling poverty means that one meal of nshima in two days is
all that the poor can achieve in terms of nutritional intake.
But there is hope for Zambians!
Our co-sponsored VTC program is amazing. Over 180 students are trained each year in vocations like brick making, brick laying, literacy, clothes manufacturing and the like. The MMMI-coordinated program provides students with nationally-recognised certificates in various trades and when combined with VTC's provision of "tools of trade", it enables a massive 98% of course participants to find employment at the end of the course. Such programs have the potential to impact the entire nation which to date has been massively hit with significant unemployment, the AIDS epidemic and lack of resources. Women are particularly affected by lack of education, unemployment and accompanying poverty. The saying... "Give someone a fish and you'll feed them for a day, but teach someone to fish and you'll feed them for a lifetime" certainly applies in Zambians and to Zambian women in particular. Providing trades training and tools of trade to the unemployed breaks the back of poverty and has the capability to feed thousands. It costs just AUD $0.80 a day to train our students in Ndola. The two (2) year course enables hundreds of families to move from a position of abject poverty and into sustained employment and the associated benefits. When you consider that Zambia has an unemployment rate of some 50%, such VTC programs hold out hope to a nation for sustainable prosperity. Just by booking any travel though us you'll be contributing to the re-building this great nation and providing hope to thousands.
