Mission Statement
Travel
With A Cause's overseas development activities form part of a comprehensive, economic, social,
cultural and political process aimed at constant improvement of the
wellbeing of the entire population and of all individuals, on the basis of
their active, free and meaningful participation in development, and in the
fair distribution of the benefits that result from this process. Initially
commencing in OECD-approved "Developing Countries" TWAC has expanded its
vision to encompass a world-wide focus that includes Developed Nations
like Australia.
We dedicate the incorporation's profits and also any public or institutional
donations to ameliorate the awful conditions experienced by the poor &
needy in third world/developing countries.
Likewise we choose to serve those
organisations that we consider "make a difference" in countries other
than those designated by the OECD as "Developing Countries". Hence our
mission included sponsorship to missions undertaken by various groups
undertaking Australian indigenous groups, Camp Quality, YWAM, and others. Please ask our Board for details.
We are a fully registered charitable overseas aid organisation that
distributes goods, services & financial assistance to OECD-approved
"Developing Countries".
By law, our Board Members (Directors) carry out Directors' duties pro
bono. Why do we do it? Because all our volunteer directors believe that
by putting their time and effort into this not-for-profit travel agency,
that a significant difference will be made in the lives of those less
fortunate than ourselves.
What and who do we sponsor?
Our initial mission aimed to serve others who live in poverty in
developing countries. Our relief efforts focused on disadvantaged groups (as
opposed to individuals) who were in dire need of assistance and without
such aid would face untoward medical, nutritional, social and/or financial
hardship. For this reason we continue to sponsor & support schools, orphanages, and
small communities as opposed to individuals and/or family enterprises. The
only exception where we might consider sponsorship of a small business is
in cases where without our aid the issue would become one of life or death
(for example a widow in a developing country who would not be afforded any
government welfare assistance and who is without capacity to feed her
children might well qualify for aid to commence a small farm or business
venture sufficient to feed her children).
In 2009 TWAC expanded its mission
to include humanitarian and social or community development activities
as well as mission activities based or funded by organisations in
Developed Countries like Australia. We now carry a world-wide focus in
our mission and we are able to fund a broad range of mission projects
all over the world.
Donations made to some of the projects we sponsor are
recognised by the Australian Taxation Department (ATO) as "Tax
Deductible". The related ABN is: 90 946 095 079. |
