Travel With A Cause Inc. (TWAC) is a fully registered and insured International
& Domestic Not-For-Profit travel agency. By law, all company profits
go to provide goods, services & financial
assistance to
OECD-approved "Developing Countries" and (from 2009) to
humanitarian projects and other "good works" undertaken throughout developed nations like
Australia too.
TWAC's Mission Statement
This Association is a Not For Profit
International Travel Agency & international relief agency.
Our development activities form part of a comprehensive, economic, social,
cultural and political process aimed at constant improvement of the
wellbeing of the entire population and of all individuals, on the basis of
their active, free and meaningful participation in development, and in the
fair distribution of the benefits that result from this process.
Our projects constitute development activities aimed to produce benefits
that will endure (a long term legacy) after our development assistance
have ceased.
Our overseas aid relief programs ensure provision of basic support to people in
emergency situations. Many of the projects we support are located in developing countries, as
defined by the Australian Government's Department of Immigration and
Foreign Affairs through its related AusAid
Department, that conforms to the list of countries ratified by the
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD)
approved "developing countries"
lists. We also support projects based in developing countries too.
We dedicate 100% the incorporation's net profits and any public or
institutional donations to ameliorate the awful conditions experienced by the
poor & needy in third world/developing countries and; (from late 2009) to various
missions-based or other "good works" throughout the developed world too.
Whether or not you choose to travel to a developing country (and of course we
can arrange this for you), just by booking any travel through our association,
you will experience the satisfaction that when you travel, you will be assisting
people in great need somewhere in the world.
What and who do we sponsor?
Our mission commenced to serve others who lived in poverty in
developing countries. Initially our relief efforts focused on disadvantaged groups (as
opposed to individuals) who were in dire need of our assistance and without
such aid would face untoward medical, nutritional, social and/or financial
hardship. For this reason we sponsor & support schools, orphanages, and
small communities as opposed to individuals and/or family enterprises. The
only exception where we might consider sponsorship of a small business is
in cases where without our aid the issue would become one of life or death
(for example a widow in a developing country who would not be afforded any
government welfare assistance and who is without capacity to feed her
children might well qualify for aid to commence a small farm or business
venture sufficient to feed her children).
From late 2009 TWAC expanded its mission and included in its list of potential
beneficiaries humanitarian work, mission work and many other "good works"
undertaken in developed countries like Australia too.
How are our
profits distributed?
By law, 100% of our
net profits are distributed to the many projects that we support. In order to
cut down on red tape we send our net profits to organisations (usually NGOs)
that already have in place the infra-structure to impact positively around the
nations of the world. In other words, we support existing projects. Your NGO
could be next!
Our policy is that we
support those organisations that use us as their corporate travel manager.
We regularly examine
our profit base and as a "rule of thumb" we disburse profits on a "quid pro
quo" basis. For example; let's say 5% of our overall company profit was
derived from an NGO's travel bookings that supported "NGO Project X".
Let's say that a further 4% of our net profit was derived from bookings where
"friends or affiliates" of that NGO nominated Project X as the
beneficiary of their travel bookings. In this case we'd assess that 9% of our
net profits had been derived for the purposes to support "Project X".
Therefore, our policy is to distribute to "Project X" 9% of our
annual net profits.
For obvious reasons
greater benefit is derived by our clients using their networks to explain to
their clients how booking through us can greatly benefit their organisations'
projects. A large network can result in huge financial benefits flowing on to a
particular project. In this way the "apparent travel budget associated with
these organisations can be significantly increased and financial rewards expand
commensurate with bookings received.
Throughout the year
our directors meet to implement profit-disbursement and adhere to these
guidelines.
