Freycinet Peninsula, National Park Tours
Imagine White Enamel. Ground for centuries by the purest aqua sea water in the world. Ground inextricably slowly, the silica reflecting the sun's light in a magnificent array that simply stuns the imagination. Yes, Wineglass Bay and the fabulous opal blue waters of Tasmania’s famous East Coast await you. Mingle with abundant native wildlife (kangaroos, wallabies, possums and Tasmanian Devils). Secluded & utterly tranquil, the Freycinet Peninsula combines private rural charm with breath-taking beaches and views of the magnificent Hazards mountains. Visit the many vineyards in the area and shop for some handy craft and souvenirs in nearby Swansea or in the plethora of fascinating coastal villages.
Freycinet National Park for those interested in a more “off the beaten track'' form of travel. The bay has fine beaches for swimming, good bushwalking and bird watching (an ornithological delight)
There
is on offer an abundant and stunning variety of fauna &
flora and the permanent inhabitants (possums –note these
are completely different to the US Opossums) wallabies (small
kangaroos) are
bold enough to take close-up looks at their human visitors. Beware
though - wallabies DO bite! Northwest of Coles
Bay you'll discover the wonder of Moulting Lagoon. Moulting Lagoon is
renowned as a breeding ground of black swans. These magnificent
birds inhabit the area and use it for breeding, feeding and probably
even recreation! Beckoning from Coles Bay are the pristine white
sandy beaches of the the popular (yet not so famous) Friendly
Beaches.
Areas
near Coles Bay are well suited to
scuba diving, water skiing, swimming, fishing and rock climbing.
Charter Boats are readily available and provide ample opportunity for
site-seeing, fishing, scuba diving, photography and more. Take in
the sites of the sea mammals such as whales (in season), dolphins,
seals and the 2 metre wing-spanned native sea eagles in their wild and
untouched habitat.
Freycinet
National Park should not be missed. It's three gargantuan granite
mountains ( Amos, Dove and Mayson) combine magnificently as the"
Hazards", an iconic and indelible statement that is easily recognised
on a world wide basis. When you combine this with the even more
famous Wineglass Bay, you have a photographer's delight at your
fingertips. Wineglass Bay is renowned as one of the top three
beaches in the world. Its
white sand gently caresses underfoot and the graceful curve of the
beach (hence the name) combine to make it one of the most photographed
natural
features in the world. Don't miss this. You have the chance of a
life time to indulge your senses in this relatively untouched place of
natural, unspoilt beauty.
Coles Bay has three 4-star holiday units and
four 3½-star facilities (RACT rated). There is an extensive backpackers lodge,
and campsites are available within the National Park. Coles Bay is approximately one hour's drive south of Bicheno.
"Wineglass Bay deservedly carries a global
reputation as one of the most beautiful
beaches in the world. Still relatively untouched
by human hands, you can walk the beach
with native wallabies (small kangaroos)
and luxuriate in its incredible beauty."
